Overview

This page provides a high-level understanding of what settings represent within the Fluent platform.

Key points

Settings are leveraged to enable/disable specific features in the platform.
Settings are set in a specific context (Account, Retailer, Location/Agent).

Settings configuration allows the management of business rules by enabling/disabling certain platform features (feature toggles). Each setting can be specified on different levels and applied in hierarchical order:

Account - Account level setting which applies to all Retailers
Retailer - Retailer level setting which applies to the Retailer
Agent - Location level setting which applies to the Location

Agent Settings (Location) include PICK_PACK_TIME_LIMIT, and fc.mystique.manifest.store

How does Context influence Roles and Permissions?

Roles are assigned within a Context, and higher levels of Context will automatically allocate to lower levels. For example, if a User has a Role which grants the ORDER_UPDATE Permission in the Account context, they will also have that Permission for all Retailers and Agents (Location level context) below that Account.

Settings can also specify custom values or toggles used in Fluent apps. For example, a setting that toggles “warehouse fulfilment only” or a setting that defines environment-specific webhook endpoints. Compared to an entity's attributes, settings are more static.

Settings List Page

Settings configuration contains the Settings List page, which displays the list of settings. Clicking

`Setting Name`

opens the Setting Details page, displaying detailed information about the particular setting.

The Fluent OMS module is pre-configured with certain standard functions that allow the interface to manage orders, product availability, inventory, and order fulfilment and serve as a starting point for your projects.

The default UX templates are hosted on the platform, so there is no need to create the manifest settings yourself unless you need to customize the existing baseline configuration.

Settings API

Settings API is used to set configurations used by the platform, accounts and retailers. See Commerce Apps documentation for specific settings keys and their function.

Configurations have a hierarchy of contexts in which they can be applied. GLOBAL, ACCOUNT and RETAILER are the levels in decreasing order of context, where GLOBAL is reserved by platform use and ACCOUNT and RETAILER are available to developers to override the GLOBAL defaults.

The Fluent platform provides a comprehensive user role management system, allowing for the assignment of diverse permissions via roles to regulate platform access and functionalities. Custom roles can be created and fine-tuned, ensuring users only have access to appropriate functionality and data. The system provides flexibility to specify the scope for a role at different context levels, such as Accounts, Retailers, and Locations.
