About Reference And Extension Modules

Edited 390 days ago

Modules are the package structure used by Fluent Commerce to ship preconfigured features and functions. They are designed to be self-describing, isolated, but inter-dependent assets that can work together with other modules, or be extended by custom modules, all while remaining upgradeable. Here we'll look at the different designations of Modules and describe the Module's Package Structure and Project Structure.

Blueprint Config Command

Edited 66 days ago

Master the `blueprint config` command to automatically generate JSON configuration files for every module in a blueprint. This article teaches implementing partners to prepare retailer-specific settings across multiple environments (dev, staging, prod) before installation. For the business, this ensures consistent environment setups and reduces deployment errors by pre-populating essential placeholders. Note: Generating configs requires retailer-level authentication. Existing files are skipped by default to protect custom edits unless you use the `--force` flag.

Blueprint Create Command

Edited 66 days ago

Learn how to use the `blueprint create` command to generate JSON manifest templates for Fluent Commerce. This article empowers implementing partners to build consistent, repeatable deployment "recipes" that slash environment setup time. For the business, this translates to faster time-to-market and reduced manual configuration errors.Note: The generated file contains placeholder versions (1.0.0) for all modules; you must manually update these to your specific requirements and validate the file before installation to ensure a successful deployment.

Blueprint Describe Command

Edited 66 days ago

Learn to use the `blueprint describe` command to preview the contents of a JSON manifest file before deployment. This article enables implementing partners to inspect module versions, source locations, and conflict rules locally without needing authentication. For the business, this provides a critical safety check, ensuring that intended configurations (such as specific order management workflows) are verified before any changes reach the account. Note: This is a read-only operation; it identifies potential issues but does not replace the `blueprint validate` command for structural health checks.

Blueprint Download Command

Edited 178 days ago

Learn how to use the `blueprint download` command to retrieve all module archives defined in a manifest without installing them. This guide enables implementing partners to archive modules for offline use, inspect contents, or build local repositories for air-gapped environments. For the business, this ensures disaster recovery readiness and simplifies distribution by creating a portable snapshot of a specific solution version. Note: This is a read-only operation and does not require Fluent Commerce authentication, though S3 sources still require local AWS credentials.

Blueprint Install Command

Edited 66 days ago

The `blueprint install` command is the engine of the Fluent Commerce Accelerator, enabling sequential installation of module collections. Partner developers gain reliable, repeatable deployments, while the business achieves operational stability and faster disaster recovery. Its built-in logic ensures safe production updates by automatically handling upgrades while blocking risky downgrades without explicit confirmation. This prevents accidental data or logic loss, resolving the pain point of manual configuration errors. Note: Installations require retailer-level authentication.

Blueprint List Command

Edited 66 days ago

Learn to use the `blueprint list` command to view and track all blueprints installed in a Fluent Commerce account. This article enables implementing partners to perform quick environment inventories and monitor version history across dev, staging, and production. For the business, this provides a clear audit trail and ensures consistency across the platform, resolving the pain point of "version drift." Note: This command requires active account-level authentication; if no blueprints are found, the CLI will return an "info" status rather than an error.

Blueprint Validate Command

Edited 66 days ago

Master the `blueprint validate` command to perform multi-layered health checks on manifests before deployment. Implementing partners learn to verify structural integrity, business rules, and path accessibility, ensuring error-free "recipes."This provides a business safety net, preventing broken installs and reducing downtime by catching invalid versions or conflicting filters early. Note: Validation is mandatory; the CLI blocks installations if rules (such as requiring exact semantic versions) are violated.

CLI Active Profile

Edited 178 days ago

Learn the technical mechanics of the Active Profile feature and how it streamlines CLI workflows. This article details the shift from rigid "Commander-enforced" validation to a flexible "Defaults-first" resolution, allowing implementing partners to work faster without sacrificing accuracy. For the business, this context-aware CLI reduces the learning curve and prevents manual entry errors. Note: While flags are no longer required at the command level (`required: false`), they remain mandatory for execution; the CLI will exit if no context is found.

Fluent CLI Reference (v2.x.x)

Edited 6 days ago

This guide covers Fluent CLI v2.x.x, the primary tool for managing Fluent Commerce accounts and assets. Implementing partners use it to automate environment setups and integrate workflows into CI/CD pipelines. For the business, the CLI ensures faster deployment cycles and high consistency, eliminating manual configuration overhead to scale retail operations with speed.Note: Requires Node.js >=20.0.0 <25.0.0. Profiles are stored locally in `~/.fluentcommerce/`; ensure sensitive credentials are protected according to your organization's security policies.

Fluent CLI Blueprints Guide

Edited 66 days ago

Learn to deploy and manage module collections using accelerator blueprints. Partners can rapidly configure environments with pre-tested "recipes," while businesses benefit from faster time-to-market and reduced risk through automated conflict prevention and smart versioning.Key Values:

Efficiency: Features "Smart Resume" and upgrade detection to skip identical modules.
Flexibility: Customise via selective installation (`--include`/`--exclude`).
Note: Semantic versioning is strictly enforced; downgrades require the `--force` flag.

What is a Blueprint?

Edited 66 days ago

This guide covers the blueprint lifecycle, from design to management, teaching you to deploy pre-configured module collections using the Fluent CLI. Implementing partners gain a consistent, repeatable setup across environments, while businesses benefit from faster deployments and reduced downtime via automated conflict prevention.Key features include Smart Versioning for automatic upgrades and Snapshot Mode for development testing. Note: Production requires exact versions; semver ranges are prohibited to ensure stability.

Workflow Fragments FAQ

Frequently asked questions around composing a workflow from workflow fragments.

On Workflows and Workflow Fragments

Edited 422 days ago

Workflows are the backbone of the Fluent platform as they describe the lifecycle of an entity. Defining subsections or sub-processes within a workflow allows to manage and evolve them independently. Thus fostering loosely coupled and self-contained fragments with no duplication of shared or unchanged behavior of a baseline workflow. On this page we will look at the different ways of structuring workflows into fragments and then how to optimally merge them into a final workflow that is used to orchestrate entities. Finally how to package both workflows and fragments into a module.
