Definition
A site reliability engineer is an IT expert who uses automation tools to monitor and observe software reliability in the production environment. They are also experienced in finding software problems and writing code to fix them. Site reliability engineers sit at the crossroads of traditional IT and software development. Basically, SRE teams are made up of engineers who build and implement software to improve the reliability of systems/software/platforms.
